Promote the Migrant Vote

We should all have a say on the issues that impact us. But, many migrant and refugee communities are excluded from the political process. Promote the Migrant Vote was a non-partisan voter registration campaign aimed at 9.4 million unregistered eligible voters in the UK, many from migrant and racialised communities.

Hero Image

Elections can be a time of fear and heightened hostility,   many politicians continue to weaponise and dehumanise and in turn normalise a raft of harmful  ‘hostile by design’ immigration policies. The campaign emerged in 2014 when we wanted to connect our members to the political process.  It grew in momentum, mobilising around national and local elections until 2021. In that time we:

Built Power! Connected a broad coalition of over 20  national migrant rights and anti-racist organisations to activate the campaign. Together we organised grassroots listening events to share experiences and make our voices heard

Organised and Mobilised! Ran Voter registration drives during local and national elections ! Ran dozens of stalls and events with community leaders, registering more than 6,000 people to vote

Shared Knowledge! Developed a digital hub with downloadable action kits, rights based info, graphics and tailored information to build the power

Connected Communities! Translated democratic resources into 8  languages- including scripts and kits to engage communities

Spoke Out! encouraged discussion on issues, ran and engaged with political hustings events to engage with political representatives
