Promote the Migrant Vote

We initiated the Promote the Migrant Vote (PTMV) campaign in the run up to the 2017 General Election to encourage the participation of migrants in the democratic process. It was built on previous work that Migrants Organise undertook in 2014, working with community leaders to register more than 6,000 people to vote in local elections in London.

The PTMV coalition of migrant organisations and groups worked to raise awareness of the rights of migrants to vote and support organisers with voter registration. Dozens of stalls, campaigns and events were held in migrant communities around the country.

PTMV restarted in 2019 in preparation for the UK General Election. Once again, it succeeded in building a broad coalition of groups and coordinating events — culminating in a day of voter registrations held at dozens of mosques around the country in collaboration with the Muslim Council of Britain.
