“You bring people closer, you make people realise that they feel belonged even when they are down. Migrants Organise gives hope to the hopeless” Migrants Organise member

Earlier this summer we celebrated our the Migrants Organise community and our spirit of collective resilience at our Summer Party. This is a community that is organising for the dignity and freedom of people seeking sanctuary and all migrants who have moved here to build their home.
Over 60 of our members came together for an evening of home cooked meals, friendships and dancing to reflect upon a year of healing activities at our London based centre.
“It was really nice to see members all dressed up in beautiful garments for the summer party, some colourful dresses, special hats, sparkling outfits and lots of giggles and joy as the music played. Many were super generous with their cooking, even one member brought food without us asking her. Our members are so much more than casework” Nadine, Trainee Caseworker
In spite of the hostility facing our communities, our work focuses on building a world where migrants and refugees can live with dignity, not as shadows or statistics, but as equal members of society; free from fear, free from discrimination, free to move, to belong and to thrive.
From isolation to connection
The first six months of 2026 has been busy with our members attending weekly activities led by our Community Programme.

Together we’ve enjoyed Walking Groups, Games and Stories. Gardening, English classes, “Read out loud” groups, Storytelling, Music, Weaving, Arts and Crafts, Dance, and Football.
“I feel more confident and less isolated.” Migrants Organise, member
“I enjoy meeting new people because it helps me make friends and feel less alone” Alvand
For our members who are deeply worried about status here in the UK, with little control or information of how their case is progressing and with distressing news coming from home; having a moment to connect with new friends is healing.
Creating Home- Exhibition

“Creating Home” in April was a creative sharing of our member art-work, exploring themes of home, belonging in past and future. This exhibition was a culmination of workshops facilitated by a volunteer at Migrants organise.
Our members have had the opportunity to develop their creative practice and reflect upon their versions of their present home and to imagine the future home they are striving for.

Casework and Collective Learning
“When you’re in the asylum system a lot of your agency and choices are taken away, and you are left with very little. As caseworkers we make sure people are at least accessing the basic support they’re entitled to. ” Laurie, Senior Caseworker
Alongside our holistic activities our case workers provide support and advice for individuals navigating the immigration system.
From April 2025- March 2026 our team made sure that 1624 people and their families were supported through outreach, advice and community building holistic activities.
We ran regular Collective Learning spaces that offered a group learning and sharing knowledge on immigration laws, housing matters, legal aid and the justice system.
We also used this space as a chance to show members how to apply for important things, like travel documents. This is an important space to share challenges and build collective knowledge to navigate the system.
This year we also established a new group, called “Moving on Group” ”to build a supportive space to develop strategies and plans for our longstanding members with the next stage of their lives.
THANK YOU!
“Migrants Organise you are a sunshine. You are a shade that covers when it rains. ” Christiana
Thank you to all our members, volunteers, workshop facilitators and staff. The community we are building is a reminder of the world we want to build,a world of dignity and hope.
