Migrant organisers gather for rally marking #10YearsTooLong of the Hostile Environment

On Wednesday May 25, 2022, Migrants Organise participated in an online rally marking #10YearsTooLong of the Hostile Environment policy.

Featuring 22 speakers & performers, the rally was organised by the Solidarity Knows No Borders Community of Resistance, and served as an energetic kick-off for an upcoming week of nationwide solidarity actions in June.

Over 180 people joined the rally to #EndtheHostileEnvironment on 25 May. Ten years ago to the day, Theresa May announced the hostile environment policy, but our resistance is only getting stronger.

Together, we filled the evening with stories of resistance from 22 organisers for migrant justice who called on us to take action this June. We joined a LIVE protest in Hackney, and acted together to support the demands of migrant workers. We heard live music and reminded ourselves of the important role of creativity in our movement. And we unveiled the ever-growing map of nationwide actions taking place during the upcoming Week of Action to #EndtheHostileEnvironment, June 13-19.

You can watch the livestream of the rally on YouTube.

With a far-right Government in power trying to deport people to Rwanda, attempting illegal pushbacks in the Channel, and conducting immigration raids on our neighbours with impunity, there can be no bystanders.

We need every person who believes in dignity and justice to take action now. Use the map to find the action closest to you—then mark your diary and bring a friend.
