Housing Justice

Everyone deserves a decent home to make a life. But for many Migrants Organise members, the accommodation provided by the Home Office and contractors like Clearsprings is unsanitary, dehumanising and unlivable.

This system of warehousing people in barges, barracks, hotels, and crumbling flats that strip them of their dignity is part of the cruel-by-design hostile environment immigration system—but we are fighting back.

In 2020, Migrants Organise members formed a housing organising group to take collective action on the issues they faced. The group has held exhibitions and public actions to raise awareness of conditions in Home Office accommodation and demand an end to the outsourcing of asylum accommodation to companies like Clearsprings.

In 2024, Migrants Organise launched #Homes4All, a cross-sector campaign coalition to build collective power towards our vision of a world where everyone can live in dignity.

Our team has also produced resources to support people navigating the asylum accommodation system, such as a guide for individuals instructed to move to the Bibby Stockholm Barge.

We know that safe community housing is the best solution. Within communities, people are able to lay roots, find support systems and start to rebuild their lives. Join us and take action for housing justice!

We demand:

Decent, dignified housing for all

End the hostile environment immigration system

For people, not profits

Where communities can thrive
