It’s a new year for our appropriately named New Beginnings Mentoring Project, and we have lots of exciting things planned.
As part of the mentoring project we run workshops for mentees and mentors to attend. Our Creative Writing project is coming to a close and our mentees and mentors will have work published in a book, which they are very excited about! Keep an eye on the website as we will be publishing some of their incredible poems and stories here soon.
We will also be starting a new set of workshops based around Self Advocacy and Wellbeing. These will include workshops on self esteem, relaxation, meditation and help with achieving goals, as well as Yoga and Pilates. We are also arranging some art and music workshops after getting feedback from our mentees and mentors, and we hope the programme of events will keep everybody busy, and help them to learn new skills.
But mentoring at MRCF is not just about group activities. Mentors volunteer to help on a one-to-one basis, providing practical and emotional support. We are always looking for new mentors, who are willing to give up just two hours a week for six months. Check out our comic book that illustrates how mentoring relationships have a tremendous impact.
At the moment, we are particularly short of male mentors-so if you or anybody you know would like to volunteer for the mentoring project, please get in touch with me on the details below.
We also accept referrals for people who you think may benefit from having a mentor so please give us a call if you have someone in mind.
