Make our get together great!

On Saturday, 17th June Migrants Organise members and supporters will be at the Portobello Green organising our local get together as a part of the biggest neighbourhood party  since the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

The Great Get Together inspired by Jo Cox, who was killed on 16 June last year. Her husband Brendan Cox wants us to remember her by bringing our communities together and celebrate all that unites us.

Jo’s family and friends came up with the initiative, and The Big Lunch have teamed up with them to support and connect more than 1,110 Great Get Together events organised around the country.
Jo Cox was passionate supporter of refugees and this is a great opportunity for refugees, migrants, residents and visitors to meet and have fun and bring communities closer together as a way of remembering her and what she stood for.

London has been through a lot recently, but it is also known for its welcoming and inclusive spirit which makes us resilient and determined to protect our freedoms and inclusivity.

We have another reason to celebrate –  we have been awarded The Queen’s Voluntary Service Award for 2017.

Please come and celebrate with us  from 12:00 to 17:00 on Portobello Green to share what we have in common. There will be live music, good food, poetry and great people from all over the world sharing messages of welcome.

Portobello Green is located at the corner of Cambridge Gardens and Portobello Road, London W10 5XL. Nearest tube station is Ladbroke Grove. See you there!
